Example images come from Preston\, Blackpool\, Manchester\, Liverpool\, London\, Glasgow\, Paris and more. \nCheck out his website at; https://www.alfmyersphotography.co.uk/ \nHow it came about – \nI’ve been a member of a photographic society (Preston Photographic Society) for some time now and really enjoy the evening when a speaker comes to give a talk which inspires me to take up my camera and try something new.  \nOver the years I’ve tried many things photographically and been inspired by many a talk\, demo and not to forget some YouTube videos\, but I always returned to people photography and wanting to capture them being real. The true person\, not the pose so to speak\, thus street photography was a natural fit that I eventually stumbled upon. \nMy image “Street Tango” was one of the first street images I shared at the club. ‘Street Tango’ did rather well\, winning the opening night competition as voted by members. I continue to enter street images into various competition both internally or externally\, and some do rather well. \nA few years on and members of the club and other local photographers were referring to me as a street photographer\, some were even asking if I’d put together a talk about the subject. DESCRIPTION:19.30 Thursday 13th May 2021 on Zoom\nScott will give his talk live from Namibia where he and his wife live and work.\nHere is a little background information about tonight; \nThe open spaces\,wildlife and people were what initially drew him to Namibia.He had expected to be involved mainly in Lodge and Hotel publicity work\, to have the occasional wedding or baby shoot and maybe to sell a few photos but\, as one of the few photographers in the country\, he completely failed to anticipate the diverse and fascinating work that flooded in.As a professional photographer in Namibia\, he never knows what the next phone call will bring. He could be training anti-poaching units out in the bush\, photographing aged freedom fighters or shooting a President. He could be camped out in the desert doing ID photos of Wild Horses\, covering a big tribal wedding or working with rescued pangolins. One of his most unexpected and exciting projects has been to document the construction of a brand new mine\, from virgin bush to the first gold bar.His knowledge of African wildlife has enabled his images to spearhead major conservation campaigns and be used in publications worldwide.This is what his talks arebased on. \nIn thesepresentationsScott draws anecdotes from his experiences as a photographer for the people of Namibia\, a people as diverse as the nature they inhabit.His work takes him into the wildest areas where a very different set of shooting skills often apply.Questions\, about life in Africa and about camera technique\, in what are often harsh and extreme conditions\, are encouraged throughout. \n
