SUMMARY:The Summer Programme - Lechlade
DESCRIPTION:Lechlade is a small market town on the edge of the Cotswolds on the river Thames.   A favourite mooring place for leisure boats and swans\, there are pretty riverside walks.  St. John’s bridge\, which crosses the Thames\, dates back to 1229 (but was rebuilt in the 19th century!).  Places of interest include St Lawrence’s churchyard\, which inspired Shelly to compose A summer evening churchyard. \n  \nPub: The Trout Inn\, Lechlade.  Meet at the pub at 8-8.30pm. \nhttp://thetroutinn.com/ \n  \nHow to get there \nLechlade is 12 miles north of Swindon on the A361. SUMMARY:The Summer Programme - Eastbrook Farm
DESCRIPTION:Eastbrook Farm covers about 1500 acrs running from the top of the Marlborough Downs down to the clay lands of the Vale of the White Horse.  The land is owned by the Church of England and managed by the Browning family as an organic farm\, with arable crops\, a dairy herd\, beef cattle\, ewes\, pigs\, and new orchard planting.  The farm supports a good range of wildlife with deer\, foxes\, badgers\, hawks\, owls\, hare and many other birds.   \nThe Brownings encourage visitors to Eastbrook Farm and have agreed to arrange a tour for SPS on the 19th July. \nwww.helenbrowningsorganic.co.uk \n  \nPub:  Royal Oak\, Bishopstone. SUMMARY:The Summer programme - Avebury - light painting
DESCRIPTION:A Neolithic henge monument and stone circles\, which circles part of  Avebury village.  Meet at the Red Lion at Avebury at dusk.  We plan to use lights to create some special images of the stones. \n  \nLight painting\, or light drawing\, is a technique in which images are made using light sources while taking long-exposure photograph\, either by moving hand held lights to illuminate a subject\, by moving lights shining directly at the camera to create patterns\, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. DESCRIPTION:A very special photographer\, as you will see from visiting; \nwww.vivecakohphotography.photoshelter.com \n  \n  \nViveca Koh FRPS \nI am a self-taught Fine Art photographer\, with a special fascination for small details\, for lost\, abandoned\, poignant and generally broken objects\, and also for darkness contrasting with light\, both in a physical and emotional sense. \nMany of my illustrative images simply evolve as I am working on them – I start off with a quite straightforward idea of what I want to achieve but am always willing to venture wherever the photograph wants me to go\, as I overlay multiple images together or add textures\, scanned documents as new layers\, and subtle shading. Two photographs may blend together in a way that I could not have previously imagined\, and this is one of the things that I find so exciting and all-consuming when I work\, to produce a final image that perhaps a little bit different\, that invokes emotion in the viewer and makes them question their sense of the world as they know it. \n  \nEntries for Comp 6 tonight please\n
