The selection on the evening will depend on what he has available and may include: \nlizards – snakes – geckos – spiders – insects – chameleons\nSome will be on perches\, some in light boxes and he will hold any large specimens himself. No problem using flash or macro lenses. DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED  This should be a very special evening. \nBelow is a little about Tony from his website. \nAuthor of 17 books\, Tony Worobiec studied fine art at The University of Newcastle upon Tyne and spent 18 years as head of a large design faculty in Dorset. He has won awards for photography in the UK and internationally\, and has had work exhibited in London’s Barbican Gallery\, Bradford’s National Museum of Photography\, The Menier Gallery London and The Fox Talbot Museum Lacock. He is a founder member of the prestigious Arena Group of Photographers. Dozens of his photographs have been used for book or album covers. \nHis work has appeared in more than a 100 photographic magazines both here in the UK and in America. He has been invited to write extended articles for well respected photographic magazines such as Black & White Photography\, Practical Photography\, Total Digital Photography\, Digital Photo\, Digital Camera\, Photo Plus and Photo Techniques USA. Several of his articles have also been published in the German magazine\, Canon Foto. \nA passionate traveler\, Tony (together with his wife Eva\,) has made frequent visits to the USA\, documenting the depopulating areas of western Nebraska\, North and South Dakota and south-eastern Montana. The culmination of this work has been the much celebrated book “Ghosts in the Wilderness; Abandoned America” (published by AAPPL). This was favourably reviewed in numerous national newspapers including The Independent\, The Guardian and The Washington Post. As a follow up book\, “Fragments of The American Dream” was published 2015\, which reinvestigates the same area to see if many changes have occurred. Another personal project involved scouring the old American highways in search of the dwindling glamour of many of the independent diners\, motels\, hotels\, and theaters that continue to survive. This work is an attempt to celebrate these iconic beacons which epitomize the American dream and to ensure that they do not become a fading memory. This project was also published by AAPPL and is titled “Icons of the Highway”. Work from this project also appears on both The BBC and The Guardian websites. His most recent book\, “The Water’s Edge” which was co-written with his wife Eva\, is a celebration of the wonderful British coast\, an aspect of landscape both photographers have greatly enjoyed over many decades. \nA Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society\, Tony is a fine art photographer with work in the permanent collection of The RPS\, The Fox Talbot Museum and in numerous corporate and private collections here in the UK\, in Europe\, Japan and in The States.

DESCRIPTION:AVs are fun and easier to make than you may think. Sometimes the best and most effective are simply images to music. You Tube and Vimeo are full of them. All sorts of subjects\, styles\, quality\, and reasons for them being there. \nAn AV is recommended for bringing a great holiday or family occasion back in your mind whenever you play it. \nIf you want any further information please just ask. \n  \nHere are the rules for the AV competition from our “rule book” page. \nAny questions – please ask. It really is easier than it looks! \nA-V Competition \nMedium:           Digital AV\nCategory:         Combined\nJudge:  Club Members (This may be external if entries warrant)\nTrophy:           Shield \nMembers may enter up to three sequences\, but total showing time may not exceed 12 minutes duration.  (There are no minimum limits.) \nNo sequence can display details of the competitor’s name or club. \nAn AV production submitted for the SPS AV Competition must predominantly consist of a sequence of still photographic images together with an accompanying synchronised sound track. The use of third party images\, animated graphics\, video clips or other visual material\, whilst not excluded\, must be limited and be appropriate to the production. Sequences with more than 25% in photographs or duration of such third party images\, animated graphics or video clips\, are not eligible for the SPS AV Competition. \nIt is the responsibility of the entrant to determine their need for any necessary music performance licenses and\, if necessary\, to obtain them. \nIt is expected that the major part of the work will have been done by the members or member entering the sequence and that they will reveal any work carried out by others\, including the use of third party images. \nAll AVs must be capable of running on the club computer without the need of additional software.

SUMMARY:London Salon of Photography
DESCRIPTION:The aim of the London Salon is to exhibit only that class of photographic work in which there is distinct evidence of artistic feeling and execution.\nThis is a short history of the Salon\n\nIn its early years\, photography was used almost exclusively to record the appearance of people\, places and things. The processes and materials available set serious limits to picture-making\, and very few attempted to use photography to make artistic pictures. Later in the nineteenth century\, some of those who had trained in art took up photography\, which led to placing more emphasis on selecting and arranging rather than on technique and materials – art rather than fact. \n A number of influential photographers broke away from the Royal Photographic Society in May 1892 in protest against its emphasis over a number of years on science and technology at the expense of other aspects of photography. They set up the Linked Ring Brotherhood as an international body to promote artistic photography. The Linked Ring held its first Photographic Salon in 1893.
