Darkroom to Digital

A keen amateur photographer at school, Alun John started his career as a darkroom assistant at the South Wales Echo in Cardiff and progressed through Fleet Street as a photographer with the Press Association and picture editor at the Evening Standard and Mail on Sunday.
He was the launch picture editor of The Independent and won awards for contributions to photography and photojournalism.
He has selected pictures for Royal Photographic Society exhibitions and judged international photo competitions.
He has worked on photography projects in; New Zealand, China, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar, Dubai, Oman, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Nigeria, Cuba and the United States.

His illustrated presentation Darkroom to Digital follows the path of photojournalism from its earliest beginnings through to the digital age highlighting the importance of changes in equipment and attitudes
